Train Stories - A journey into a greater past Richie Arndt & Friends - Foto by Manfred Pollert Richie Arndt’s music is both earthy and universal, a quality which can be heard and felt on five albums released with his “Bluenatics”. With “Train Stories“, the guitarist, singer and song writer has now gone a step further and presents himself as author and charming narrator. The newly-released double album “Train Stories“ includes a special audio CD with Richie Arndt as story teller and solo performer, linking his experiences as musician and educator with the American railroad history with its legendary train songs. Out of hundreds of train songs found in the Folk-, Blues-, Rock- and Pop genres, of which Richie compiled the most beautiful ones as a result of years of research, a set of 14 numbers were recorded with the help of brilliant musician friends. Great songs written by Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher and the Beatles are included, all of who wrote legendary “Train Songs“. Richie Arndt takes the listener on a truly extraordinary journey alongside own compositions. CD 1 contains 14 chosen complete train songs recorded with his band, and these are also mentioned on the audio CD with listening examples. CD 2 contains a high quality narration at the level of a radio feature, highly entertaining while retaining a pleasant, immediate atmosphere all the way through. „Train Stories“ is a brilliant musical journey to the roots of modern Blues-, Jazz- and World Music. The ballads, songs and Blues numbers about trains and people are a portrait of a long forgotten future crazy America: full of daring engineers, courageous conductors, travelling truth seekers, bold bandits, beautiful but unattainable women, desperate men, hobos, drunkards and vagrants. A huge scope of the passion-filled world is covered by Richie Arndt’s “Train Stories“. The first reviews of this double album released in June 2009 are full of praise: " ... really big cinema ", Dirk Föhrs
